Dupont Tract Road Repair and Replacement

Location: Wolf River Coastal Preserve, Mississipi
Services: Construction

The Project includes the construction of a 12-foot-wide gravel roadway within an existing 25-foot-wide dirt right-of-way approximately 12,000 linear feet in length through the Wolf River Coastal Preserve DuPont Tract. Deep depressions and low areas in the existing right-of-way were repaired back to original grade with suitable existing fill materials and/or stone as specified. Swales were reconstructed on either side of roadway to accommodate natural drainage patterns. Three existing concrete low-water crossings were repaired/cleaned out and one new concrete low-water crossing was constructed. Two existing culverts were added to facilitate natural drainage patterns. Not only did this project reestablish positive drainage on this tract of land, it was also designed to acts as a natural firebreak in order to facilitate controlled burns by MDMR for proper Coastal Preserve Habitat Management.
