TURNBERRY DRAINING PROJECT

Location: Diamondhead, Mississippi
Services: Engineering

As development has increased in the vicinity of Turnberry Drive and Turnberry Way in Diamondhead, the area has also experienced an increase in flooding. In the initial design study, Covington identified a series of improvements to alleviate flooding. They included lowering the water surface elevation of a retention pond, installing additional culverts at roadway crossings, conducting channel excavation to establish grade, and lowering the road elevation. The Covington team, in coordination with the City, prioritized improvements and began preparing construction plans. Many of the recommended improvements were were constructed and some were cancelled due to a lack of cooperation from local property owners.
